Kung Fu Livestreamer films highlight how Taobao lets you fight off bad products and recommendations.

When it comes to purchasing items, shopping online is the norm for folks in Mainland China. But the challenges they face in this territory are fake or faulty goods and untrue reviews and testimonials.

How can Taobao position itself as the go-to trusted e-commerce platform that helps online shoppers fight off bad products and false recommendations?

A series of Kung Fu Livestreamer films, aired on Taobao Live, “edutained” viewers on how to achieve this. Taobao Live, the live stream online shopping service owned by Alibaba Group, aired films that starred four of China’s most popular online influencers who acted as “shopping warriors”.

Each story revolved around a top shopping category, such as food, travel, or beauty. Each film also provided online shopping tips one can get when they join a livestream session, such as how to get the freshest produce, which lipstick color matches their skin tone, etc.
